Valerie's Stories and 2 of her many Paintings

Short stories by my first wife, Valerie Crichlow (November 24, 1952 - June 10, 2008).

These stories are set in her native country Trinidad and portray life as it was for many children during her childhood years. Valerie uses a lot of Trinidadian (Caribbean) vernacular in these stories.

Late for School relates the attempt by a brother and sister to get to school on time and the results that followed.

Lingay's Revenge relates the interactions between some schoolboys and a street character.

Red Riding Hood is all about a dress.

The Bully Loses shows how things can get really rough at school.

Trouble for Jem is a boy's episode with a bicycle.

In The Visit things can get a little spooky.

Flash was a dear pet.

By the Ravine relates a fishing expedition.

SchoolDays touches on getting to and from school.

Country Life gives us a peep into rural life during Valerie's childhood.

Dreamy Jerri - some childhood reflections.

Finding a Wife lets us in to a unique cultural practice.

Unschackled will leave you with questions.
